The "Solo Tapes" project is nothing more than just single synth challenge. It was started off by Wojtek Paul at the beginning of 2014. 5 years later (!) Wojtek decided to begin to release recordings from such unusual affair. The project aims to show what can be achieved with just one simple synthesizer.
First part of the project (Solo Tapes #1) consists of 3 tracks and a bonus, recorded using Arturia MicroBrute (tracks #1 and #2), Waldorf NW1 (track #3) and Quasimidi Technox (bonus track) respectively. Everything you can hear on a given track comes from the single instrument that served as the sound source for. Sounds were not edited in any way, so you can experience not only instrument's recordings on the fly, but also learn how instrument's imperfections can be made a performance supporting act.
And the tracks turned into the rich in content piece of electronic music art. Check this out!
Will you join the challenge and try to make a whole track using one synth only?
We hope that it will be a good source of inspiration for you!

Additional notes:
an some parts QuasimidiTechnox and MicroBrute was also controlled and filtered by additional eurorack modules, yet it was always intended to preserve as much original sound of the instrument as possible,
Waldorfina track was complemented by an external percussion loop (enriched by Wojtek) to make the piece even more engaging,
tracks have been finally processed by a studio equipment to ensure the best possible listening experience. The result? It is one of the best sounding electronic music records at this moment!
